We were accompanied by Marco who is very knowledgeable and engaging. You can visit the Vatican by yourself but the guided tour makes it so much more interesting and you really get so much out of it. Afterall, you've paid to come to Rome you might as well make the most of it. Well done Marco and team. Highly recommended!

She was incredibly knowledgeable and took all kinds of questions.... read more She covered academics, history, details of much of the artwork but it was all done in a fascinating way full of humour. The tour goes through rooms in the Vatican leading to the Sistine chapel (you aren’t allowed to talk inside so the guide explains everything in advance which great). The tour then moved via a special route for guided groups to St Peter’s Basilica where it concludes. If you do the English tour in the morning don’t book another tour afterwards because once the tour ends you can spend more time wandering around the Basilica. Amil explained that we could go down in the crypt (free) or climb into the dome (10 euros to take lift before climbing the rest on foot). Definitely do this- there’s a cafe up on the roof with great views.

Of course during this covid time there are less people which makes taking a tour even better.... read more Highly recommend using Vatican tours as your tour guide and going to Rome now. We have 4 kids and had a private tour. Marco was really good with our kids (8, 9, 12 & 16). He had the kids finding things and made it very engaging for them. They found the gold and silver keys. And the bees from a certain family. Do the tour to learn the meaning. 🙂

They also do tours of Rome city, Rome underground, coliseum and other things. My only regret is not finding them sooner. Marco suggests when coming to Rome to do the Rome city tour first and then do the others after that. For kids he does a treasure hunt during the Rome city tour so the kids have so much fun finding things and learn a lot too.

A good tour guide makes learning fun for every age. Vatican tours did this. I highly recommend them.
