  Our Guide Lucia was so friendly and immensely knowledgeable , and I’d say ,that unless you are an historian/ archaeologist yourself , a guided tour is a must ! ... read more Lucia took us / showed us all the ‘best ‘bits ,however at the end of the tour we were left to explore for as long as we wanted to .
Also even though our group was quite small we were all given ear phones so we could hear Lucia talking to us ( not shouting ! )

Booking was straightforward on TA. We took the metro from Termini... read more station, got off at Octaviano station and there were about 10 minute walk to the office to check in for the tour.

A little before 12pm a group of 30 people or so had been gathering ready to go. Giuliano was our guide and he made sure to introduce himself to everyone which was nice. His English is great.

He kicked off the tour by gathering the group nearby and gave an explanation of Michelangelo’s paintings in the Sistine Chapel. It’s because it’s not allowed to talk in the Chapel.

We skipped all the lines to get inside the museum where we collected the audio receivers and earphones.

The visit was amazing. A lot to see and we were glad not to have to wait in long lines. Even in winter the place was crowded to full capacity.

Giuliano did a fine job providing interesting information about the artefacts, history of the buildings, and more.
