We have 4 kids and had a private tour. Marco was really good with our kids (8, 9, 12 & 16). He had the kids finding things and made it very engaging for them. They found the gold and silver keys. And the bees from a certain family. Do the tour to learn the meaning. 🙂

They also do tours of Rome city, Rome underground, coliseum and other things. My only regret is not finding them sooner. Marco suggests when coming to Rome to do the Rome city tour first and then do the others after that. For kids he does a treasure hunt during the Rome city tour so the kids have so much fun finding things and learn a lot too.

A good tour guide makes learning fun for every age. Vatican tours did this. I highly recommend them.

The Vatican museums were not busy in these times during CO I'D, and we found an amazing guide for the day in Chara, whose encyclopedic knowledge of Roma and the Vatican was punctuated with an awesome delivery and a good sense of humor. We saw all the highlights, through a three hour tour of St Peter's Basilica and the museums, and she left us right before the Sisteen Chapel with ample instructions on how to spend the rest of the day in the museum, where to get the good coffee at the end of the tour, and how to get back to our hotel. She was, in a word, the perfect tour guide. Hints for booking. Pre-book the tour before leaving, and get the skip the lines version. It will save some time. I'm sure the effect is bigger when there are lines; even so, I saw a few instances where we went through rope barriers to avoid lines. To me, the highlight of the tour was not the chapel itself (although that was impressive), but the other art along the way. Keep an open mind and spend some time exploring! …

We were a family of 4, with two teenagers that enjoyed the tour from beginning to end.

I also agree with a previous comment that the Vatican are allowing far too many people in on a daily basis as it was really difficult to navigate through the crowds
